HUE – COLOR OF TRADITIONAL TRADE VILLAGE
Discover one of Hue’s many intriguing cultural legacies with a visit to Sinh Village. Located on the outskirts of the city on the lower stretches of the Perfume River, Sinh is known as a traditional woodblock printing village. Visiting family houses you will get to witness the craftsmen at work, meet colorful local characters and discover the tranquil rhythms of Vietnamese countryside life.

If you come to Hue in Tet holiday, you would be take part in traditional wrestling festival in Sinh village. Sinh village is the last address preserved traditional wrestling of Vietnamese. The wrestling competition is held on January 10thLunar month every year. Sinh village wrestling ceremony is held in the areas of An village (also known as Sinh village), Phu Mau commune, Phu Vang district. This is a traditional cultural activity; the wrestlers will compete in the circle forms.
Continue to travel downstream through the commune of Bao Vinh, an old town that threatened by the urbanization and modern concrete houses. Before we reach the Sinh Village by bicycle, we pay a visit to Thanh Tien, a neighboring village. This village is famous for its handicraft of paper flowers, especially Vietnam’s national flower, the lotus. We then continue by cycle off the beaten path to some rice paddy fields and pastures. Here you will get to witness locals as they go about doing their daily activities such as wet rice cultivation and and flower gardening.
EXPLORING THUY BIEU ECO-VILLAGE
Thuy Bieu is featured by its rustic settings, typical of Hue countryside. The whole village is hidden in luxuriant gardens of citruit and bamboo. Local people live in small blue cottages, built in traditional architecture with small chambers, titled roof and long gate.
Thuy Bieu is a wonderland of pomelo that possesses a very special taste and fragrance. Locals call it “thanh tra” or “green tea citruit” as its flesh is juicily light green. When spring comes, the village is blooded in pure white blossoms, creating a romantic scene. In July and August, pomelo trees ripe is every where and so its aroma. People are visioning a “Thanh Tra flower festival” will be celebrated in Hue just like the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan.

Along the walking you have opportunity to admire the quiet and superb landscape of Hue: rice field, fruit tree and vegetable gardens, communal house, primary school and a valley of cemetery. You also have chance to visit Ho Quyen (Tiger Fighting Arena) and Voi Re Temple. The Ho Quyen was built in 1830 by Emperor Minh Mang as a venue for the popular duels between elephants and tigers. Voi Re temple is a Royal temple where the Kings’ war elephants were buried and worshipped.
Leave Thuy Bieu village to come to Vong Canh hill, you will be surprised with charming scenery here. Standing on the Vong Canh hill, you will have overall see sight with ancient relics and beautiful scenery of natural space around here, especially, the beauty of Huong River.
